Scale
- 1 8-ounce bag fresh cranberries
- 1 1/2 cups ripe, peeled, and diced bartlett pears
- 1 cup apple juice,100% juice not from concentrate (or fresh pressed)
- 1 teaspoon fresh squeezed lemon juice
- 1/4 cup raw honey
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Pinch of sea salt
- Pinch of Ceylon cinnamon
Instructions
- Rinse the cranberries and set them in a strainer to drain. Peel and dice the pears.
- Add 8 ounces cranberries, 1 ½ cups ripe, peeled and diced bartlett pears, 1 cup apple juice (100% juice not from concentrate), 1 teaspoon fresh squeezed lemon juice, ¼ cup raw honey, ¼ cup pure maple syrup, ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract, a pinch of sea salt, and a pinch of Ceylon cinnamon to a medium saucepan. Bring to a simmer.
- Simmer for 15 minutes.
- When the cranberries burst around 7 minutes into the 15-minute cook time use a potato masher to crush the them. Don’t leave any whole cranberries. It’s ok if a few pears retain their shape. Continue to simmer, and slowly stir, for the remainder of the 15 minutes and until the sauce thickens.
- Remove sauce from the heat and transfer it to a heat safe serving bowl. Let it cool. Refrigerate it overnight, or for several hours, until cold and thick.
- Serve cold or at room temperature with roasted meats.
Notes
Press several apples for apple juice or use store bought 100% pure apple juice (not from concentrate).
